What is a better buy for a first plasma tv?

Robyn E said:

As a first plasma tv i want a tv that will last long and won’t get out dated pretty quick. ( I have been looking at the Pioneere Tv like the 60″ Kuro and Elite. Also, the Panasonic 58″). What do you think is a better buy?

If you can wait a little longer, Pioneer is coming out the new Kuro Line of Plasma. It should be better than the recent ones that just came out last year. I have the Pro 150FD and I love it.

So if I was you, wait a little longer and get the new Elite Kuro.

Good luck.

I agree. The next model of Pio Elites will have what is called infinite black levels. While the older models are still light years ahead of every other brand when it comes to black levels. The newer models will blow even their lofty standards through the roof. Check out this article @ engadget and see for yourself.

Well I think the KEY to purchasing the BEST one is to see if you have Panasonic or Pioneer servicers in your area….

Because eventually you may need service, and you don’t want to have to drive 200 miles for PIONEER service when Panasonic servicers should be within 30 miles of most cities…..

Think about it….

Hmm, I just looked at the Yellow pages under Television – Service….

And I noticed EVERYBODY states “We service ALL BRANDS”

But they don’t state “We are SUPPORTED by the manufacturer of such and such BRAND”

That’s important to me….if you can’t contact the manufacturer for help on oddball failures, how can you fix it?

I love the fact I can pick up the phone, call Samsung, Panasonic, Sony, Philips and get a real live TV Tech that has answers to oddball or INTERMITTANT failures !

It just makes the down time a heck of a lot less…..

Unfortunately, we don’t do Pioneer….and I don’t think I want to.

And I suspect many servicers have decided to AVOID becoming Pioneer Authorized Servicers….but not Panasonic.
It’s too costly to be one.
